THE LIBRARY STEPSCommission date: January 2003Delivery date: September 2003 Type of Wood: English Cherry and Ebony Price Bracket: £1,000 to £5,000 Dimensions: Height 1350mm The brief was to design and make a very portable and beautiful set of library steps that would enable the client to access the top shelf of her library. As with some other pieces the design was left entirely to me. I was just given the dimensional limitations and told 'I would like a typical James Morley Furniture piece'. A great compliment and much appreciated. This curvaceous and delicate piece was my answer. The shaped handrail was made of ten very slim slices of cherry wood laminated together in a mould, shaped and then veneered with a thick ebony band. |
