The client who commissioned this piece is a designer in her own right and knows exactly what she wanted; i.e. a very curvaceous, luxurious, elliptical dining table that would expand from a six seater to a twelve seater. Not only that, but the six seater had to be a certain (very small) size and the leaves had to be stored within the table – all in all very tricky to sort out the ‘mechanics’ whilst being true in a design sense. We got there in the end and our client was over the moon. The name of the table and indeed the inspiration for the shape of the legs is that her name starts with a 'J' and his with a 'C'. Now we have to make the chairs to match - what fun....and we have even had an enquiry for a similar table to go down to Sydney in Australia.
The timbers used are solid ripple sycamore for the top and finials and Indian rosewood for the legs - a truly sumptuous look. The whole was then finished with a UV resistant protective finish.
